Time flies so fast!

I felt like it was just yesterday when I first touched town in Bogotá, Colombia. I remember the chills I felt running down my spine as I said my goodbyes to my family, and the way my heart dropped when my plane took off from the airport. I thought “Oh my God, I just quit my job and gave up everything I knew to come to Colombia – What if it doesn’t work out?”

Now, when I look back, it has literally been almost 4 years! I might post all of my happy moments online, when I’m travelling or exploring this beautiful country – or even spending time with the beautiful people I have met along the way. But, no one really talks about how overstimulating it can be. How sometimes uncertainty and doubt can cloud your joy, or how crazy it feels when you don’t fit in or understand the culture at first.
My advice to you? In life, there will always be a mix of pros and cons but it is in your best interest to focus on the positives. I love the version of myself that leaving home has allowed me to become and I am proud to say that I love and contribute to this beautiful second country that I call home – Colombia
